Working to improve SEND provisions across Cumbria
We are here to work in co-production with Cumbria County Council, NHS Trusts within Cumbria, and other professional bodies that provide SEND services.

Log InWho are SENDAC?
SENDAC aren’t a support group as such, although we will certainly signpost families to other groups and services where appropriate. The role of SENDAC is to reach out to families and listen to your concerns and stories. From these we get an overall view of what is happening for SEND families, both what is working well and what is definitely not.
Armed with this knowledge, our job is to take this information to the decision makers within the local authority and the NHS (and other services where appropriate), and work with them to make improvements so that things get better for our children.
Over the last few months we have been working hard to build good relationships with key decision makers in Cumbria County Council, the NHS and Cumbria’s SEND Improvement Programme. We now have regular meetings scheduled with them throughout the coming year, and have already had two meetings with them to begin the process of working together to make sure your voices are heard and your concerns are acted on, using the priorities set by parents and carers in the survey we put out over the summer.

SENDAC Membership
Membership of SENDAC is open to all parents and carers of children and young people with SEND aged 0 to 25. Your child doesn’t need to have a diagnosis, and membership is free.
Being a member of SENDAC doesn’t involve any commitment of your time, you can be as active or other wise as is suitable for you. If you just want to receive our emails, that’s fine.
If you would like to help us run coffee mornings, speak to other parents in your local area on our behalf, or even get involved in influential meetings and the steering group, then we would love to see you and you would be very welcome.
